The Carver Center gymnasium three times a week transforms into the Dynamic House of Dance, where girls from fifth-to-twelfth grade learn majorette dance, a combination of jazz, hip hop, ballet and more. The group began meeting in August and had their first performance at the Carver Center on September 21 for a basketball tournament. Nicole Mitchell, the 19-year-old choreographer and head coach originally from Memphis, Tenn., started the group. She grew up dancing and wanted to bring something different to Kokomo through the dance troupe. The Dynamic House of Dance will host another tryout at the Carver Center on Oct. 15-17, 4:30-7:30. They also plan to have an open show on December 21 at the Carver Center. -- Article and Photo credit: Kelly Lafferty Gerber

Girl's basketball is alive and well in Kokomo, IN, and it begins right here at Carver Community Center. This 6 week league has proven to be successful, and gives young ladies an outlet to express themselves and sharpen their skills. They compete every week, and play extremely tough. So fun to watch! |
